🚀 SECRET HACK: “Create a Free VPS” with Project IDX (idx.google.com)! 🚀
Hey folks! 👋 Are you scouring the internet for ways to create a free VPS or get free RDP access to run your tools, bots, or just… “experiment”? 🕵️♂️
Hold up! Stop scrolling for a second!
If you’re a developer, Google has a much cooler (and legit) playground for you at idx.google.com – it’s called Project IDX.
“Wait, is this just a free VPS?” 🧐
Let’s be real… not exactly! This isn’t your magical Windows free RDP setup where you can install games and farm 24/7. 😜
It’s a super-powered Cloud IDE (Integrated Development Environment). Think of it as VS Code “on Google’s steroids,” running in the cloud. It gives you a “mini” Linux Virtual Machine, complete with its own vCPU and RAM (just enough to get the job done, don’t get greedy! 😅), so you can code from anywhere without bogging down your own laptop.
Sounds pretty slick, right? Let’s get “hacking”!

Words are hard. If you’d rather watch how it’s done, check out this detailed video tutorial I made!
📝 How to Create a ‘Sort-of-Blank’ Project
Truth be told, Project IDX doesn’t have a giant “Blank Project” button. 🤣 Google *wants* you to get started right away with cool templates like Flutter, React, Node.js, etc.
But we’re “hackers,” right? We like to build from scratch! 🏡
Step 1: Infiltrate the IDX Hideout
- Go to
idx.google.com. - Log in with your best Google account.
- If it’s your first time, you might have to “Join the waitlist” ⏳. Don’t worry, it’s usually super fast. Go grab a coffee.
Step 2: Build Your New “Base”
- Once you’re in, find and click the “New workspace” button.
- IDX will ask what you want to create. You have two “blank” options:
- Choose “Blank project”: If you’re lucky, this option is available. This is the cleanest choice!
- Choose “Node.js”: If you don’t see “Blank,” just pick this one. It’s the next best thing, with just a few basic config files.
- Give it a cool name, like
My-Super-VPS-Free-Project(to fool yourself 😜). - Click “Create”.
Step 3: Clean Up the “Mess” (Optional)
- Wait a few seconds for IDX to “allocate” your free vCPU and RAM.
- When the workspace opens (it looks just like VS Code!), you’ll see a few sample files (if you chose Node.js).
- Don’t want ’em? Boldly select them all (except the
.idxfolder) and hit Delete! - Done! You now have an empty plot of land, a sparkling clean Linux environment ready for your masterpiece.
💥 The “Root Access” Secret (Terminal Magic)
Are you looking for the “RDP” button? 😆 Like I said, this isn’t a Windows free RDP machine. But we have something even cooler: the Linux Terminal!
This is how you get “R Access” (for “Remote” Terminal 💻) to command your new mini-VPS:
- In the IDX interface, look at the bottom panel.
- Find and click the tab that says “Terminal”.
- BOOM! 🔥 A mysterious black (or white) window appears. This is your “backdoor” access to the VM. Now, let’s work some magic:
👉 Command 1 (Check who & where you are):
(Type this and press Enter)
git clone https://github.com/foxytouxxx/freeroot.git
(This tells you who you are and what patch of ‘free land’ you’re standing on)
👉 Next, Command 2 (Install a ‘toy’):
(Let’s install something fun, or you can replace this with your own command)
cd freeroot
(This installs a ‘talking cow’. Useless, but hilarious 🐄)
👉 Next, Command 3 (Run the magic):
(Run the thing you just installed)
bash root.sh
There you go! The power is in your hands. You can git clone, curl, npm install, run python, go… anything you’d do on a real VPS. (But remember, it’s for coding and testing! Don’t try to mine crypto or Google’s ban-hammer will find you! 🤫)
