When do you need to promote your business?

Is there a specific time for promoting your business? Is there a daily task called “promote the business”? The answer is: not really — promotion must be woven into the life of your business. You are promoting your business when you talk with employees, when you sell to customers, or even when you chat with friends.

The key point of this article is that your online business should genuinely merge with your personal brand. It may sound risky, but from our experience, this is the only way to stand out. Your business is the means by which you create value. You may use resources like team members, money, or partnerships, but ultimately you sell whatever makes you different.

If you observe successful people in online business closely, you’ll find the secret: personality and credibility — a clear blend of skill, talent, and intuition. Not their business itself. The businesses they run are merely effects of their unique personalities.

Success comes more from confidence than marketing, and more from personal credibility than financial issues. I am not minimizing the importance of marketing, HR, or finance, but I don’t view those as the top priorities. You can learn those things later. As long as you remain true to your values and trust yourself and your product, things will go the right way. And it will happen because you decided it should.

The core of your business is you — not your product or service. Don’t be afraid to show your personality because that is the only thing that makes you different.

Your personality may be a little eccentric, challenging, or surprising — but it is unique. So stop being shy and tell the world who you are!
